History:
Annie, named after her fathers favorite play, 'Annie Get Your Gun' as well as her grandmother, Gertrude, and oh yes, she HATES her middle name. Born to David Mayweather, owner of Mayweather Resort and Molly Mayweather, Queen Bee of the Hilton Peaches, a group known most for thier etiquitte and design of proper women. From the start, Annie didnt exactly fit the mold given to her. She was a book worm, yet with a desire to do more then work in her fathers resort or wear the perfect outfit while out to tea with women in which, she had no shared interests.
Annies Grandfather was a renown underwater archeologist. Bernard moved his family down to Hilton Head Island, Georgia for a 'visit' which ended in a lifetime. Working many hours with the sealife, coral and mammal alike, he started one of the most famous submarine voyages and tours, in order to educate people on the importance of preservation and respect for our oceans. While Bernard was wanting to save the world, David was wanting to rule it, one resort at a time.
Annie looked up to Bernard, and spent many hours in his lab or out on a boat with him, learning everything she could about how to care for creatures big and small. He made her realize that she could do anything and be anyone as long as she was willing to work for it. Annie was a quick study, and as such, she read for countless hours, asking Bernard every question that came to her head, making him more of a father figure then David could ever be.
Annie's mother meant well in what she was trying to do for Annie and her sisters. She wanted the best for them, wanted them to grow up as proper women to one day meet a man and have thier 2.5 children with the white picket fence and a dog, but Annie had other plans. She hated putting on dresses and going to tea brunches, talking to people who thought themselves above everyone else, who thought that the world ended here on the shores and that there wasnt anything more important on the planet.
Annie wanted to save the world much like her grandfather, but mostly the people in it. She had read countless pages on dying children in Africa, the Middle East and even in thier own backyard. She hated knowing that children her own age didnt have a hot meal or a scrap of clothing that was clean, yet in turn she was having to parade around in dresses that cost enough to buy a weeks worth of supplies and food for those people. Annie turned to her grandfather for support, asking him what she should do. He suggested that she used her brain for what it was meant for, but mostly for her to listen to her heart. Annie didnt understand what that meant until the fateful day Bernard died.
In listening to her heart, she knew the answer, she was going to go to Med School. Annie never worked harder in her life. Annie went to the University of Georgia for four years, graduating with her BS in Medical Sciences. Next stop was Johns Hopskins. She thought of her grandfather every time she was struggling, as well as every time she suceeded. Determination like no one had seen from her before, she pressed on. In year three, everything would change, her life would be turned upside down but nothing could keep her down for long.
Annie didnt do much partying, as she didnt have the time nor the drive to mess up her career, she had bigger things on her plate. She did decide that during her summer break, she was going to go on a trip with her best freind through it all, and current roomie, Drake Rivas, 2nd year Intern. Rivas took her to Cuba to visit his family, staying with them so that they could save money, sure, that was the reason. Annie remembers drinking quite a bit and it was both a blessing and a curse. Drakes little sister, Rose, didnt like Annie from the start, but did convince the family to let her take her out shopping and dancing while Drake spent time with his ailing mother. Rose did take her out, but left her for dead. Drake didnt think she was going to make it, but with luck and the power of lycan healing, Drake kept her alive with the help of thier Rex, Trent. What Annie didnt know, was that they werent blood related in the normal sense, but rather, they were a pride of werelions. Drake to this day still feels terrible for the whole incident and Trent made it Drake's responsibility to make sure Annie would succeed.
Annies first few months were hazy with the amount of healing that she had to go through from the attack. Annie missed the last two semesters of her schooling for that year but gained so much more. With Drakes guidance, she went through training enough to be considered at a moderate level. It was difficult at first for the sexual training, but as they were adults, Drake took it on as a job to teach her, not to fall in love with her. Annie had a harder time of keeping her feelings aside, as he was her first. The fighting was far more difficult for her, as she always had a nurturing demeanor not an offensive one. Drake wasnt sure he was ever going to be able to get her to give in to her true self and let her lioness shine, but with time that too would change.
When Drake and Trent deemed her well enough to go back, she returned to school with medical records showing she had been in an accident and had been in recovery until the new year. They were leinient on her due to her good grades and exemplitory attendance thus far, allowing her to return to her regularly scheduled classes. Drake put his life on hold for Annie, keeping close incase she needed him. Training her to be around blood was the hardest task to date, yet Drake stood by her side, coaxed her beast, soothed it, and made her trust him. A few close calls were expected and he was right there with her, after school in the morgue, random trips to the ER to sit and observe, feeling the dying victims passing by, smelling thier fear, their blood, letting her know what it was like to want to put her face right on in that bowel and rip, chew, devour. Each time she thought she was going to lose it, he pushed her beast harder, egged it on, and made her listen with her heart and not with her mind. Drake and Annie became closer and closer with each passing day, yet he was far from easy on her, Drake wanted her to be the best. Graduating from Johns Hopskins was one of the greatest moments of her life and she owed it all to Drake for keeping her on track.
With the internship, she had a choice. Annie chose to travel. Annie and Drake both joined the Peace Corps and were shipped out to Kenya. Never before had she felt so useful and calmed. She was finally accepting what she was, and how much good she could do for people. The days were long and the nights were short, catnaps here and there, yet it seemed with all of the good they were doing, there were always more patients, more issues, and not enough supplies. Children still pulled at her heart strings and it broke her each time one died in her hands. With each passing day, she felt stronger, and more confident in her own skin. She was a doctor and doing a job that most would hate.
Drake was in a small hut across the small villiage on the outskirts of Kenya when Annie finally proved that she had gone full circle. Annie was gathering supplies from a truck and doing inventory, wanting to make sure they were set for the week when she was attacked. She knew there were dangers in this world, she just didnt think to keep a wary eye over her shoulder, until after this night. Instincts won out in the fight, she was no longer thinking as a human, only as her lioness. The male werelion thought he could have his way with her and Annie very much so disagreed. Thrashing, biting and claws came out as the fight ensued. In a matter of minutes, Annie had used all that Drake had taught her and had the male pinned to the ground, her beast owerpowering his, her teeth at his neck. The human side of her was screaming to let him up, not to kill him, yet the lioness wasnt wanting to listen. When Drake showed up, he instantly knew something was wrong, he smelled blood. Finding the two of them behind the truck on the ground, he noted that Annie had taken down an Alpha male lion and controlled herself enough not to kill him. Annie had let the man up and let him run off. To this day she wasnt sure if she did the right thing, if the world would have been a better place without him, but it wasnt her call. Drake told her that night that her training had paid off, and that he was beyond proud of her.
The next week they were on a plane back to the states, having fullfilled thier promised two year stint. Upon arriving to the states, Annie decided to fullfill the rest of her internship at the Children's Memorial Hospital. Drake took up a job at St. Anthony Hospital. Why Chicago? Because they have the best BBQ, no no, that wasnt it. She had always heard her grandfather speak so highly of it, and she wanted to get back to the roots where he grew up, wanted to figure out what made him such a great man. She had an address of the small three bedroom house that he had left her in his will, knowing she would take care of and appreciate the house and the memories. She didnt change much in the house, just added a few things to make it her house as well. Drake thought it was odd that she would allow him to live with her, but as she explained time and time again, they were family and so he gave in, and has his things in the back room, however, she only sees him about once a week. For now, Annie is all about settling into this new found city, wanting to finally feel at home, where her life goes from here, is yet to unfold.
Update!! - Annie decided to take a venture out to Kansas City with Trey. Drake is still a very good friend of hers, and has decided to help take care of Annies house in the mean time.
